Shawn D. Rodriguez

With more than 20 years of experience in the legal field, Shawn is responsible for oversight of the legal team and all legal & regulatory matters pertaining to the organization; ensuring compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements; advising the organization on legal, business, & strategic issues, including mitigation and responses to internal and external risks; and diligently protecting the organization’s personnel, assets, and reputation.

Prior to joining Crisis Text Line, Shawn was an associate at the global law firm of Gibson Dunn in its New York office, representing Crisis Text Line as a pro bono client and serving on the organization’s legal advisory board. At Gibson Dunn, Shawn developed a broad practice focused primarily on complex commercial litigation, privacy, employment, and corporate defense/government investigations, handling high-stakes matters for clients ranging from small business owners, to nonprofit organizations, to public officials, to major media companies, to multinational financial institutions. Beyond Crisis Text Line, his pro bono matters included representing organizations focused on youth empowerment, homeless services, transgender civil rights, animal safety, and the arts. Prior to that, Shawn worked for several years as a paralegal at two boutique New York City law firms, focusing on litigation and employment matters.

Shawn earned a Bachelor’s degree in English & Music from Columbia University and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
